April 4, 2026
Learn the basics of motion and performance capture from industry pro: Henry Layton at the MoCap School Hollywood.
Get a hands-on experience and an introduction to the ins and outs of cutting-edge motion capture technology.
The workshop will include:
- Intro to MoCap/Pcap for actors – industry vocabulary, rules, cut scenes and more.
- The step by step process of what to expect on their first MoCap shoot.
- Tips for MoCap/Pcap auditions.
The “motion” of MoCap:
- In-game techniques (unarmed/armed) for first person shooter video games – think Call of Duty
- Moving with weight (Heroes/Villains) – think Marvel/ Fortnite types of games; character creation (zombies/creatures/aliens).
- A demo with MSH alum using arm extensions

Vertical Dramas with Danny Farber

Come spend the afternoon with Actor/Director Danny Farber as he breaks down the Vertical Drama industry from scene structure to set — everything you wanted to know!
Danny is a talented actor (and spent some time here at JRS) and also an accomplished director/ producer of short films, commercials, music videos and beyond. He most recently has gained notoriety as one of the ‘go to’ directors of Vertical Dramas as the format grows in popularity and industry impact.

- Learn about Vertical Dramas, how they function, how they cast and what each day on set is like.
SCENE WORK

The scene you bring in is your choice, but should be NO LONGER than 4 or 5 pages (therefore no longer than about 4 minutes in length) and cannot be from anything currently casting. It should be from something that has already aired or a pilot that did not go. DO NOT use a scene from class last week, or an audition you had 3 weeks ago. Those are still considered projects that are “casting” and we do not want to put our guest in the situation of dealing with privileged sides.
Failure to follow these guidelines might affect your ability to participate in future casting classes.
Scenes should prepared and rehearsed.
REMINDER: You must provide your own scene partner and when you sign up, you will be paying for BOTH of you (to avoid confusion and an admin nightmare).
